It's been awhile............

We have totally been busy (well actually, I've been busy and Con has been using this computer) So I haven't had anytime to write on this blog. But here I am and ready to keep it going.

I spent the better part of March and April at home in Ireland, getting the house in order the way I  like it. No more bachelor living for the boss. I backsplashed the kitchen, put in my garden, picked out paint for the guest room and the kitchen. We want to get the house ready to rent by the week for people who would like a great location in Ireland when they visit. Nothing better than Tullig!

The two of us finally came home together a couple of weeks ago, and part of that time I was sick. So now trying to get this condo ready to sell and we have decided to buy a house together in Oklahoma. Big step for us, but we know it's right. I couldn't be with anyone else for the rest of my life, and he knows it too.

The garden over there was the biggest chore of all. The bosses cousin came over and helped me shovel top soil as we had gotten 2 tons of the stuff.... Then Denis set a new lawn, and before we left it was growing like mad. We (actually I should say him), planted 3 apple trees and a pear tree. I planted a gooseberry bush and a rose bush and I can't wait to see them grow.

Then I started on my garden..... It was miserable work, but the end product was great, and it's still not close to finished, I still must put in a walkway made of stones, and put bark down. And I have to say that I was a little disgusted most of the time. To put my plants in, I dug a hole, shoveled in fresh horse manure, set the plants and filled with compost. After a few days, on my fruits and herbs, I added some aged bat guano (as this will make your plants grow even bigger.

The Garden now, if you see from an earlier post, this is a HUGE improvement as to what it was before. At the end of the sleepers, another of the Boss's cousins is going to put in a stone wall as an end cap.
 My Hydrangea

Not quite straight lines, but once the plants grow, you won't notice.

My favorite flower, the Tulips I have. The leaves on the plant are absolutely gorgeous and so vibrant.
Our plum trees that actually yield great plums. I think in the fall, I shall have plenty of plum tarts to share.
All in all, I have planted a great share of flowers and eatables. I have 2 strawberry bushes, cilantro, rosemary, dill, and parsley. From seed I have 2 potato plants, garlic, and tomatoes.

As for flowers I planted clematis, tulips, pansies, lavender, holly bush, roses, hydrangea, and many more that I actually don't remember the names of..

But now off to do nothing as I think I may deserve it since I have been working too hard.

An American in the Irish frontier.......

This is actually my first posting on here, so hopefully it will the work out for me.

Now a little about me I guess.... I am currently a flight attendant who works out of Atlanta, but I live part time in County Cork, Ireland and  Gloucester, Massachusetts. Yes the infamous town of The Perfect Storm and the 17 some high school girls who got pregnant at the same time. I enjoy my time here and hanging with the love of my life.... my leprechaun. The leprechaun is a crazy Irishman, and we have such a great time just being homebodies most of the time. And of course we have our struggles, which you will hear about from time to time. And  I may be biased, but he is the best man in the world.

I just got back last night from 13 days in Ireland. I would like to think that since my leprechaun has a house in Ireland, I have acquired that as well. We have plenty of work to be done to the house, but it is definately getting there. The last 2 weeks have been busy, the floors and the fireplace have been ripped out in the spare room, the garden  has been burned off, and we finally got insulation blown in the cavity walls. But still so much to be done! I will be going back to the rock in about 11 days to paint, (inside and outside), plant my garden, and decorate the house. So a trip to Ikea Dublin is in store. But the best part of the trip is the fact that I am bringing back the boss to Boston, so my commute will become much easier for the summer. While I was there, we submitted our home for a makeover from Ikea, because we definately need it. With me working on the American Dollar, it doesn't go very far and the leprechaun is unemployed. We definately need storage, since our clothes are in kitchen cabinets and everything must be low enough for the leprechaun to reach them at wheelchair height. So we are keeping our fingers crossed we win!

A couple pics of the garden, before it gets finished

 I love the view........
 Our little Irish cottage
Our spare room that is a disaster!
The picture we submitted to Ikea to show the challenges of our storage situation. There are no closets in Ireland, and don't mind the mess, our cottage is going through renovations at the current moment, thank goodness we can close the cabinets.
